You Earned It. Now Let’s Hit the Streets.
Dear Family,
This week in Self-Care School, we walked for safety and decarceration. If you walked five days, you earned your Ida B. Wells badge—the mark of a truth-teller. A defender of justice. A woman who shows up, even when it’s hard.
And this week, one GirlTREK crew brought that truth to life. In Waterbury, Connecticut—just days after a tragic shooting—a group of women laced up and walked their neighborhood. And the news took notice. Watch their story here »
To the women in Waterbury: We see you. We honor you. You are the heartbeat of this movement.
And what we witnessed in Waterbury - the real-life impact of this movement - we’ll see across the country this summer.
As Self-Care School winds down, GirlTREK is stepping outside in full force.
From parades to festivals, from the WNBA All-Star weekend to Essence Fest—we’re about to be OUTSIDE. Representing. Repping superhero blue. And walking for something real.
Because in a world of AI and algorithms, this is what’s real: Aunties and daughters, side by side. Music in the streets. Laughing. Chanting. Moving as one. A freedom movement you can feel in your bones and see in your neighborhoods.
And it all kicks off in the Blackest way possible—Juneteenth parades across the country.
These aren’t just events.
They’re homecomings.
They’re your invitation to bring your girls, your sisters, your crew—and take the streets with us.
