Weekly Monday Motivation for a Million+ Strong
Opening Word
My mind is worthy of peace. My spirit is worthy of joy. My body is worthy of care.
Dear Fam,
For years, you’ve opened our Monday Motivation emails and sparked your week with our Friday Fire emails. Those weekly notes have kept our million+ strong community connected, inspired, and on mission.
This summer, we’re refining our communications to give you the most relevant, life-giving tools to help you live your healthiest, most fulfilled life and tap deeper into the GirlTREK movement.
That’s why we’ve started rolling out The SOS Dispatch — a new format for Monday Motivations. Each week, SOS will:
Amplify the work and voices of our trusted partners fighting for justice and health.
Spotlight Black businesses and Next Gen leaders in our community.
Call you to action with small but mighty assignments.
Share where to connect in sisterhood, locally and virtually.
This is more than an email. It’s our weekly solidarity dispatch. A way to save our sisters and ourselves — by practicing joy, justice, and collective care together.
This week’s call: We Want Healthy Minds.

Systems Change Partner: Black Women’s Mental Health Institute
“At the Black Women’s Mental Health Institute, we echo the call for healthy minds and affirm the urgent need for relief from the deadly impact of stress and the population-level trauma rooted in forced labor, terror, and poverty. We believe access to mental health resources and culturally appropriate therapeutic care is a human right.
Our Counseling in Training Program is designed to prepare the next generation of culturally competent clinicians by providing skills, resources, training, and networking opportunities. This program equips both emerging and practicing mental health professionals—within and beyond our organization—to address the unique and complex needs of communities impacted by generational trauma, systemic oppression, and economic hardship.
Through this work, we ensure that clinicians are not only able to serve their clients with cultural humility and evidence-based care but also care for themselves as they navigate the mental health needs of their communities.
We actively partner with like-minded organizations to expand education, share resources, and strengthen collaborative efforts. Together, we are building networks of healing that address the historical and present-day harms of forced labor, terror, and poverty—while creating pathways to mental and emotional liberation.
BWMHI Call to Action for GirlTREK Members:
Sisters, your cape is calling—but remember, you don’t have to wear it alone. The Black Women’s Mental Health Institute (BWMHI) invites every GirlTREK member to join us in five powerful actions that strengthen our minds, hearts, and communities:
Build & Depend on Your Village. True superheros draw strength from their community. Create and nurture safe spaces where collaboration and care thrive.
Check on a Sister—Really Check. “I’m good” isn’t always the whole story. Pay attention to her body language. Follow up with a text, card, gift, or voice note. Let her know she’s never alone.
Check Your Capacity, Not Just Boundaries. Boundaries protect, but capacity helps you grow. Ask: What do I need? What can I release? Where can I make space?
Evaluate Your Circle. Some relationships are completed assignments. Grieve what’s done, and boldly embrace what’s next.
Love on YOU. Book a counseling session, join a support group, or connect with sisters who can hold your truth. Start with our Sister Support Meetups—every 3rd Thursday. Sign up at www.bwmhi.org.
