You Did It!

You walked for 9 consecutive days while meditating on the Fruit of the Spirit. What a time we had! These nine days have truly been a blessing. We were reminded of the power of love, kindness, gentleness, goodness and self-control, and we shouted and testified about the joy, joy, joy deep in our soul. It felt good to be in community with thousands of Black women walking and praying and praising God together.

Were you inspired? Does this feel like just the beginning? Yes? Well, keep walking. We invite you to continue the momentum with our 21-Day Gratitude Trek. You’re already 9 days in. Walk just 12 more days (9 + 12 = 21) and you can earn a pair of GirlTREK’s Golden Shoelaces, a special gift given to women who complete 21 walks in 30 days.

Thousands of women have already earned their shoelaces. Now it’s your turn!

Here’s how you participate:

  • Just like Prayer Trek, this challenge is free to join. You can earn your golden shoelaces if you complete 12 more walks before November 15th. That adds up to 21 walks in 30 days!

  • Walk for at least 30 minutes. Lace-up your sneakers and walk right out your front door. You don’t have to drive anywhere or walk with a team. Download your copy of the challenge here. This is a simple list of walks that any woman can do—anytime, anywhere! As an added bonus, we’ve provided some ideas for you to practice random acts of kindness while you’re out on your walk. With each act of kindness, you’ll find more to be grateful for.

  • Check off each walk you complete to keep track of your walks. You can check off the 9 days you just completed under Walks for Prayer! Benchmark your progress every Sunday and plan your week of walks. Which walks from the list will you try?

  • Inspire others. Share your journey on social media using #GirlTREK.

  • Finish 21 walks?! We want to recognize all of your sweat equity. Go to GirlTREK.org to claim your victory.

Walking is the single most powerful thing a woman can do to improve her health. Not only does walking 30 minutes a day, 5 days a week lower your risk for chronic health conditions like diabetes and hypertension, you will have more energy during the day, clearer thoughts, and better sleep.

So, now that you’ve completed 9 days, we encourage you to commit to 12 more days of walking to keep your body strong. And with our 21-Day Gratitude Trek, each step you take you will plant new seeds of gratefulness.

How many acts of kindness will you do? 5? 10? It’s up to you—let the spirit move you. Take bright, beautiful pics and videos while out walking or during your random act of kindness and share them using #GirlTrek.

In this season of thanksgiving, let’s pass on some of our blessings to others, uplift those who need it, and share some of our light and love with the world.

In gratitude,

The GirlTREK Team
