This week’s GirlTrekker spotlight celebrates Sharita Jennings.

Sharita has been a GirlTrekker since 2014. She is an avid traveler who left behind her 9-5 job to live life on her own terms. Read on to learn more about Sharita’s story and her message to Black women everywhere on how to center your joy, self-care and manifest your wildest dreams.

Tell us your story in your own words

I am a lawyer turned fitness coach turned digital nomad who's been blessed to find a way to live life on my own terms.

Much like the GirlTrek mission, I chose to chuck the “should” aside and instead put my mental health and thirst for adventure first! I left my traditional 9-5 life and moved abroad. I’ve since lived in Colombia, Peru, Guatemala, Portugal, Croatia, and Mexico! I practice law by day and salsa dance the nights away.

What is one thing you love most about GirlTrek?

I love how addictive GirlTrek is. No matter what city you find us in, when you see us in our superhero blue shirts walking without a care in the world, people are instantly drawn to us!

What Is Your Superpower?

My superpower is my smile. I get it from my mama and it allows me to connect with people in any setting. I smile though challenging times too to remind myself to stay grateful for what I have.

What's one thing you do for self-care?

I reserve one full day a week all for me that I call “Sharita Day,” and it is sacred to me. On this day I do absolutely NOTHING! I love spending time with people but I’ve learned that I need to refuel to continue to put my best self forward.

What is one message you want all Black women to know?

I want all black women to know how amazingly powerful they are. We can absolutely manifest and demand from the universe exactly what we want. It’s our God given right. Take it from someone who took a major leap (after some HUGE doubts) and never looked back.

Dream big, seek out sisters with even bigger dreams and watch what happens!
