“I Help People Realize Their Potential To Help Themselves”

This week we're spotlighting Coach Robin Renee. Coach Robin is from Chicago and has been a GirlTrekker since 2012. She is also a fitness educator whose superpower is to “help people realize their own potential for helping themselves.” Learn more about Coach Robin below and her journey as a Trekker. 

Tell us your story in your own words 

I'm an evolving spirit, seeking understanding in this thing called life. I'm a Black woman, born and raised on the south side of Chicago. I've always been an active adventure seeker, especially outdoors. I'm a finisher who strives to complete set goals. I'm a reader who enjoys flipping paper pages and seeing written words in my imagination. I'm a creator who enjoys DIY projects.

Why did you pursue a career as a wellness educator? 

I've been a fitness enthusiast since childhood. I was on athletic teams from early elementary through high school. I'm fascinated by the human body and its abilities. Through personal health challenges, I learned that wellness is more than physical fitness. It's a balance between mind, body and spirit. I began researching natural remedies for healing, then decided to pursue education in the wellness industry. I walk 6-7 days per week, from 30-60 minutes.  

What is one thing you love most about GirlTrek? 

The authenticity, especially from Morgan and Vanessa. The energy of genuine care for each other radiates throughout the movement.

What is your superpower? 

I have the ability to help people realize their own potential for helping themselves. I encourage and motivate people to challenge themselves in order to achieve desired changes.

What's one thing you do for self-care? 

Read and nap in my hammock.

What is one message you want all Black women to know? 

You are worth investing your own time in your self care.
